CM Punk may never have fit Vince McMahon’s traditional vision of a WWE Superstar, but his charisma and in-ring skill still cemented his reputation as the “Best in the World.”
At the age of 47, Punk’s physique has also sparked conversation online, especially as he continues to share gym photos on social media. Some of those posts have drawn criticism, including accusations of steroid use. However, former AEW star Cezar Bononi firmly pushed back on that narrative.
Bononi called the accusations “the most absurd thing,” criticizing how quickly people jump to conclusions when they notice physical changes. He praised Punk’s dedication and respected coach Jay Ferruggia, stating that Punk’s current look is “very, very achievable naturally” and shows “zero indications” of steroid use.
He also questioned the confidence behind such claims, pointing out the lack of real evidence. “Did you have access to his bloodwork?” Bononi asked.
Addressing the broader mindset, Bononi suggested that some people try to diminish others’ achievements when they see results they can’t replicate themselves. Even in hypothetical scenarios, he noted, progress still requires effort, adding that “he still had to put the work in on this.”
Bononi closed by urging fans not to default to steroid accusations.
