A former Brooklyn daycare director has pleaded guilty after prosecutors said she stole millions from her employer and spent a huge amount of that money on WWE events.
According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, Murielle Misczak pleaded guilty in federal court in Brooklyn to wire fraud in connection with a scheme to steal more than $2.75 million from a Brooklyn daycare.
Prosecutors said Misczak used stolen tuition payments to fund personal expenses, including trips for herself and her three children to WWE events. More than $350,000 of the stolen money was allegedly spent on professional wrestling tickets, including packages that allowed her children to meet wrestlers.
“Defendant Stole More than $2.75 Million from Daycare and Spent Funds on Professional Wrestling Events, Personal Travel, and Luxury Goods.”
The press release stated that Misczak faces up to 20 years in prison when sentenced, along with restitution totaling $2,805,871. United States Attorney Joseph Nocella Jr. said Misczak abused her access to the daycare’s bank accounts to steal tuition money and fund WWE-related trips.
“Earlier today, in federal court in Brooklyn, Murielle Misczak pleaded guilty to wire fraud in connection with a scheme to defraud her former employer, a Brooklyn daycare, of more than $2.75 million. The defendant took advantage of her access to bank accounts for the Daycare to steal millions in tuition payments in order to line her own pockets and fund trips to World Wrestling Entertainment events among other personal expenses.”
FBI Assistant Director in Charge James C. Barnacle Jr. also slammed the scheme, saying the stolen money should have gone toward services for children: “Murielle Misczak’s selfish greed deprived a local daycare of nearly three million dollars in critical funding intended for services to support the development and care of our communities’ children.”
Court filings stated that Misczak was hired by the daycare in 2013 as Program Coordinator before being promoted to Director in 2020. From January 2022 through October 2025, prosecutors said she redirected tuition payments into accounts she controlled before moving the money into her own accounts.
Prosecutors also said she tried to hide the theft by deleting and changing information in the daycare’s accounting systems: “Misczak hid her theft from the Daycare by deleting and altering information in the Daycare’s accounting systems.”
The government said Misczak spent more than $600,000 on travel and entertainment, including over $350,000 on professional wrestling events. She also allegedly spent hundreds of thousands more on luxury goods, food delivery, ride sharing, and other personal expenses.
The case has now moved from shocking allegations to a guilty plea. Misczak’s WWE spending may have grabbed attention, but prosecutors made it clear the real damage was done to a daycare that lost nearly $3 million meant for children and families.
