Doncaster, UK (May 18th, 2026)– 2016 Olympic Bronze medalist Filip Hrgovic has yet to hold a share of the world heavyweight title. By blasting out limited Dave Allen in less than three rounds, Hrgovic secured a probable next bout with rising unbeaten prospect Moses Itauma later in 2026.
At Eco-Power Stadium in Doncaster, United Kingdom, Hrgovic, 20-1 with 15 knockouts, Zagreb, Croatia, the WBO International Heavyweight titleholder, in the feature bout on a 10 bouts DAZN card on Saturday evening, May 16, 2026, won the vacant International Boxing Federation Inter-Continental Heavyweight title at 2:37 of the third round, after blasting Dave Allen, now 25-9-2 with 20 knockouts, Conisbrough, Yorkshire, United Kingdom, with consecutive right hands with Allen on the ropes, prompting Allen’s corner to throw in the towel to get referee Steve Gray to stop the bout, to save Allen from further punishment.
A left hook by Hrgovic crumbled Allen to the floor, oddly ruled a slip by referee Steve Gray. Allen got up, then got hit by lefts and rights from Hrgovic at will, his legs shot, the bout about to turn into a massacre. Hrgovic began pounding on Allen on the ropes like Rocky Balboa pounding out meat at the Philadelphia meat market. Allen protested, but he looked like a defenseless punching bag on the ropes when his corner ended the bout, and continuing the lopsided bout would have been senseless.
Queensberry Promotions promoter George Warren confirmed after Hrgovic’s victory that the Moses Itauma bout is close to being agreed upon. Hrgovic, open to all challenges and all challengers after the bout, stated, “I will fight Moses Itauma. I will fight anyone. I’ll have a chat with my team first (but) I will fight any man.”
