Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen is pushing for a summer move to Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas, according to Turkish outlet Sabah, with the 24-year-old Denmark international keen on joining the Black Eagles after a difficult 2025/26 campaign in which he managed just 12 appearances for the Premier League club.
Jorgensen’s situation at Stamford Bridge has become untenable. Across those 12 appearances he conceded 17 goals and kept just one clean sheet, accumulating 963 minutes before effectively dropping out of Chelsea’s plans entirely. For a player who arrived from Villarreal in a deal worth £20.7 million in July 2024, the return has not matched the investment, and with incoming manager Xabi Alonso preparing to reshape the squad, Jorgensen’s exit looks inevitable.
Besiktas had already attempted to sign him during the January transfer window, but then-Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior blocked the departure on the grounds that he did not want to weaken the club’s goalkeeping options mid-season. Rosenior has since been sacked. The obstacle is gone and Jorgensen’s desire to move to the Tupras Stadium remains unchanged.
Why Besiktas want Filip Jorgensen and what happened in January
Jorgensen himself has reportedly been keen on the Besiktas move since the winter window. His stance has not changed. With Rosenior no longer at the club and Xabi Alonso arriving with his own ideas about squad composition, the path to a summer exit is now significantly clearer than it was in January when the move was blocked.
What Filip Jorgensen’s departure means for Chelsea under Xabi Alonso
Whether Besiktas can meet Chelsea’s asking price and whether Jorgensen’s wages fit within the Turkish club’s budget are the outstanding questions. The intent on both sides is clear, the obstacles from January have been removed and a summer move looks the likeliest conclusion to a transfer story that has been building for the best part of six months.
