FootJoy’s Legends Series Begins With a Tribute to Philadelphia

As the golf world descends upon Aronimink Golf Club and Philadelphia for the PGA Championship, FootJoy has unveiled the first of three Legends Series drops for the summer that honors the city as the birthplace of America and celebrates the nation’s 250th birthday.

The limited-edition Packard and Marquis models, dubbed “1776,” are grounded in a neutral white and grey palette with subtle patriotic details and Philadelphia’s historic Liberty Bell stamped on the heel tab.

The Premiere Series platform has become one of the defining silhouettes in golf footwear over the last few seasons because it speaks to where golf style is heading right now. Players still want tradition and craftsmanship, but they also want versatility and performance. The days of classic shoes feeling stiff or overly formal are long gone.

That balance is what stands out most with the “1776” release. The premium leather construction and timeless saddle- and longwing-styling give the shoes a tailored look that feels right at home in serious golf circles, while the muted color story makes them easy to wear well beyond one major championship week.

FootJoy also used the release to introduce its new ARCTrax outsole technology. The updated traction system features an anti-channeling design with concentric flex zones that are meant to optimize grip and stability throughout the swing. It is another reminder that even as golf footwear continues embracing heritage aesthetics, performance still drives the category.

More than anything, this release feels connected to the current mood in golf fashion. There is a growing appreciation for pieces that carry history and storytelling without feeling costume-like. FootJoy tapped into that space with this collection. Refined, understated, and built for golfers who notice details.

The first Legends Series drop is available now through FootJoy and select retailers while supplies last. Two additional Legends Series releases are scheduled for June and July, each tied to another major championship moment later this summer.
