- Forza Horizon 6 is Metacritic’s highest-rated game of the year
- Title becomes joint-highest-rated game in series history
With most major media outlets having released their verdicts on Forza Horizon 6, one thing has become apparent: Playground Games has created an excellent driving game.
The critical reception has been so good, in fact, that FH6 has become the highest-rated game of 2026, according to the leading review aggregator, Metacritic.
Achieving an average score of 92 (out of 100), FH6 is the joint highest-rated entry in the franchise’s history, sitting alongside FH4 and FH5. It’s also the highest-rated game the Traxion team has reviewed since we switched to numerical scoring, gaining a ‘9’ (one other 9 was dished out for Super Woden: Rally Edge, incidentally).
In our review, we loved its depiction of Japan, its familiar gameplay mechanics and refreshed rewards system, even if we felt that downtown Tokyo ‘lacks pizzazz’.
Buyers of the Premium Edition of the game will get their chance to offer their opinions today (well, those who haven’t already played a leaked version and faced the wrath of Playground), with Standard and Deluxe edition owners having to wait until the 19th May.
PlayStation 5 users will need to wait even longer, however, although it’s expected to drop later this year.
