The 24-year-old Polish player started the event ranked 114th in the world and had to play through three rounds of qualifying just to make the main draw. By defeating Diana Shnaider in the semifinals, Chwalinska became the first female qualifier in French Open history to reach the singles final. In fact, it only happened once before that a qualifier won a Grand Slam (Emma Raducanu at the 2021 US Open).
Her variety and creative play have completely won over the Parisian crowds, especially after she took down major stars like Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen along the way.
