Gable Steveson signs with UFC, gets high-profile date for Octagon debut
Heavyweight prospect Gable
Steveson is officially taking his talents to the
Ultimate Fighting Championship.

During the UFC 327
broadcast on Saturday night, it was announced that Steveson had
signed with the Las Vegas-based promotion. He will make his debut
at UFC 329
during International Fight Week against an as-yet-to-be-named
opponent. Steveson was in attendance at UFC 327 in Miami when the
announcement was made.

Making Waves

Steveson is regarded as one of the top prospects in all of MMA. The
25-year-old, who has worked extensively with former
UFC two-division champion Jon Jones, is
3-0 in MMA bouts — finishing all of his opponents inside of a
round. Prior to focusing on fighting, Steveson tried his hand at
both professonal wrestling and the NFL.

Steveson last appeared at Mexico Fight League 3 on Feb. 19, where
he stopped 15-bout veteran Hugo Lezama
via technical knockout at the 3:50 mark of Round 1. Before he makes
his first UFC foray, Steveson will headline Real American Freestyle
9 against Alexander
Romanov on May 30 in Arlington, Texas.

UFC 329 takes place on July 11 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The event does not have a headliner, but Conor
McGregor’s return has been rumored for the event.
