The Friars Report: Three years ago Ed Cooley’s final Big East road game with Providence was a stop at Capital One Arena and a comfortable 88-68 victory over the Hoyas. A few weeks later Cooley was introduced as the Hoyas head man resulting in a domino effect that saw Kim English leave Fairfax and life in the A10 for greener pastures at Providence.

Fast forward to the present and it looks like the final conference road game for English as the Friars coach will take place in the same building amid multiple reports that he has already been told by his AD that this will be his last season at Providence. English is 47-50 at PC with zero NCAA tournaments to show for his time.

WHAT’S AT STAKE?
Georgetown ended a six-game losing streak with their win at Providence in the first meeting. A win on Saturday would put an end to the Hoyas current seven-game slide. Georgetown last swept Providence in 2019 when Cooley was on the other bench.

Georgetown currently sits in last place in the league but depending on other results earlier on Saturday, the Hoyas could inch ahead to the 10 seed in next week’s Big East tournament at MSG.

Georgetown is 2-7 at home in league play after going 6-4 last season.
