A Landmark Moment for Africa’s Gaming Industry
The global gaming-for-impact movement reached a major milestone as Games4Change Africa successfully hosted its first international Games4Change and SDG Summit in Nairobi, Kenya.
Speaking with Esports Africa News, Amy, Program Director for Games4Change Africa, highlighted the significance of bringing the globally recognized initiative previously held in New York to the African continent for the very first time.
Gaming Meets Global Development Goals

According to Amy, Games4Change is a global organization focused on using gaming as a force for social good, working closely with institutions like the United Nations to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“This event brings together global players, UN agencies, and the gaming community to collaborate and explore how we can use games to support the SDGs,” she explained.
Strong African Representation Takes Center Stage

The Nairobi edition marks a turning point for African inclusion, with strong participation from developers, creators, and industry stakeholders across the continent.
Amy emphasized that Africa’s gaming ecosystem is more vibrant than often perceived, with numerous studios and talents contributing to its rapid growth.
Building a Connected African Gaming Community

Beyond the event, Games4Change Africa aims to build a unified community across the continent. As the sole chapter representing Africa, the organization focuses on connecting gamers, developers, and investors with global opportunities.
Amy described the organization as a “dot connector,” helping individuals and organizations access the right networks to create meaningful impact.
