The New York Giants have one of the most promising young wide receivers in the game in Malik Nabers.
However, they could look to add another former LSU star to the mix to help Jaxson Dart in his second year in the NFL. They’ve been in constant talks with Odell Beckham Jr., who already played for head coach John Harbaugh and the Baltimore Ravens.
Nevertheless, neither party is in a rush to get a deal done. When asked about an imminent signing, Harbaugh hinted at it being more likely to happen closer to training camp.
Giants will evaluate signing Odell Beckham Jr., but not now
“All those things are questions that need to get answered for anybody that age,” Harbaugh said, per ESPN. “Now, you know Odell, he’s confident, man. He’s confident, he’s working hard, and he believes in himself. So I think we’ll just play it out over the next month and into training camp and see where we’re at.”
As things stand now, the Giants are set to start Nabers alongside Darnell Mooney and Darius Slayton. That’s not necessarily bad, but given how aggressive they’ve been at revamping the roster, they could certainly use some more firepower.
Granted, Beckham isn’t the same game-wrecking playmaker he used to be in his prime, and it’s been a while since he’s made an impact on a team. Then again, he can bring some veteran leadership to the table and help develop Nabers, and he shouldn’t demand a ton of money at this point in his career. OBJ wants a chance to go out on his own terms, and returning to the Big Apple would be the ultimate full-circle moment for him.
