Debuted at Eurobike, Gobao introduced the “X” E-Bike System, featuring an integrated motor, ECVT technology, and AI-based connectivity.
According to Gobao, the system is “more than just a motor with a gearbox.” It represents their approach to thinking about e-bike systems as a whole. The brand said the new system is an intelligent combination of drive technology, software, and connectivity. Developed for modern e-bikes that demand the highest levels of performance, integration, and customisation.
The system removes the need for a cassette, derailleur and non-traditional gearing. When pedalled, the system changes the ratio. Perhaps the biggest claim is the battery, which they say can be charged to 80% in 20 minutes.
Aimed at e-bike manufacturers and OEMs, the platform includes the X1 and X1P models, which focus on delivering a seamless riding experience through advanced system architecture.
Key Technology Highlights:
- ECVT Integration: The platform features Electronically-controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (ECVT) technology. By utilising AI-based software to continuously monitor cadence, torque, speed, and gradient, the system optimises motor efficiency in real-time, effectively removing the need for manual shifting.
- Super Charging Benchmarks: Project X sets a new standard for high-performance charging. The technology enables a 750 Wh battery to charge from 10% to 80% in just 20 minutes, offering speeds up to four times faster than current market systems.
- Intelligent Connectivity: The Central Control Unit (CCU) serves as the digital core of the platform, managing security, remote functions, and connectivity. It serves as the digital heart of the Gobao e-bike ecosystem, unifying drive technology, software, and connectivity into a single, cohesive platform. It is engineered to streamline the user experience by managing communication between all connected bike components, ensuring seamless integration of both current and future digital services. Features include anti-theft protection, geo-fencing, smartphone-based unlocking, and digital battery locks, creating a comprehensive security ecosystem for end-users.
Gobao is positioning itself as an “enabler” rather than a traditional component supplier. By offering an integrated approach, the company aims to reduce mechanical complexity and shorten the time-to-market for manufacturers.
The X1 and X1P systems share identical dimensions and mounting points, providing OEM partners with maximum flexibility to apply the platform across various e-bike categories, including urban, trekking, cargo, SUV, and e-MTB applications. To ensure scalability, Gobao says it has developed a tiered support structure that includes digital diagnostics, service reports, and direct replacement strategies to minimise downtime for dealers and brands.
Technical Specifications
Gobao has scheduled mass production to begin in February 2027, with the company working closely with OEM partners to integrate the platform into upcoming product generations.
