Green Bay Packers Legends Aaron Rodgers And Mike McCarthy Officially Reunite On Pittsburgh Steelers

Earlier this week, it was revealed that the Green Bay Packers will play their first pre-season game against their former head coach, Mike McCarthy, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Of course, many wondered if Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay’s legendary quarterback, would be joining Pittsburgh this year.

After the 2025 NFL season ended, Rodgers was non-committal about returning to the Steelers, for whom he played last year and led them to the postseason.

On Saturday, the public got their answer.

On Saturday evening, it was reported that Rodgers has come to an agreement with the Steelers to return for his 22nd NFL season. He will make $22 million guaranteed and can make as much as $25 million if he hits certain incentives.

Last year, Rodgers had a 65.7% completion percentage, 3,322 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, seven interceptions, and a 94.8 passer rating.

Of course, Rodgers’ decision to play one more year reunites him with McCarthy. The two won Super Bowl XLV for the Packers, ironically against the Steelers, back during the 2010 NFL season. It was under McCarthy that Rodgers won his first two NFL MVP Awards.

When McCarthy was fired by the Packers before the end of the 2018 NFL season, there was visible friction between the head coach and Rodgers. However, in the years since, the two have patched things up and have been on great terms.

In fact, when Rodgers was released by the New York Jets, he was asked where he wanted to play next. “Wherever Big Mike [McCarthy] ends up was his response.”
