With the Green Bay Packers already in the midst of their 2026 minicamp, a wave of hungry young players is working to stand out on the practice field and strengthen their case for a place on the 53-man roster. A total of 38 players reported for minicamp, featuring six members of the 2026 NFL Draft class, a veteran presence, and several undrafted free agents all competing for opportunities.
Following several notable departures on defense, including edge rushers Rashan Gary and Kingsley Enagbare as well as wideouts Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks, Green Bay entered the 2026 NFL Draft focused on reinforcing key spots across the roster.

The Packers’ first selection in the second round went to South Carolina cornerback Brandon Cisse, followed by back-to-back additions in Missouri defensive lineman Brandon McClellan and Penn State EDGE Dani Dennis-Sutton.

Even so, of all the players putting their skills on display during rookie minicamp, Cisse has been the most eye catching addition for Green Bay and may directly address their biggest need in the secondary. If he proves capable of contributing right away, it could help raise the level of competition throughout the locker room.
Measuring just under six feet, Cisse delivered an impressive athletic testing profile, posting a 41-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-11 broad jump to go along with a blazing 4.41-second 40-yard dash. Those numbers point to a player with the size and speed needed to match up with top receivers at the next level.

Even beyond his physical traits, his ability to move around the secondary could end up being his most valuable asset, as he does not appear destined to be confined to a single role on defense.
Cisse steadily climbed the cornerback rankings during his time at South Carolina, eventually earning a full-time starting role in 2025 where he appeared in all 12 games and posted 27 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, an interception, five pass breakups, and a forced fumble.
He finished with a combine score of 79, which placed him as the No. 5 cornerback in the entire draft class, even though Green Bay ultimately selected him at No. 52 overall.
