Twenty-six-year-old international sprinter Gurvindervir Singh held his nerve to secure the men’s 60m crown on the concluding day of the inaugural National Indoor athletics championships at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
In a thrilling final reduced to five athletes after three false starts, Gurindervir crossed the line with 6.60. His time was better than the previous National 60m indoor record of 6.67 seconds, set by V.K. Elakkiadasan in 2022. Local lad Lalu Bhoi clocked 6.65.
