The next page has been turned in the scandal involving New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and reporter Dianna Russini. The next viral clip of the two spending time together leaked sooner than most fans expected, and former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho weighed in on it.

Just as we thought we reached a cool-down in the Vrabel-Russini scandal, TMZ shocked fans with a clip of the pair on a boat day in Tennessee back in 2021. Even more shocking, however, is the fact that Russini was deep into her first pregnancy at the time.
The cast of “Speakeasy” weighed in on the controversy and assessed Vrabel’s options. Acho, for one, is convinced the affair itself isn’t the main focus of the scandal.
Moreover, NFL insider Benjamin Albright recently revealed that such affairs are common in the league and “there are dozens of just the known affairs out there.” Acho replied to it as well.
“Albright’s tripping,” he said. “An affair is an affair — nobody cares. That’s not the issue at hand here, people. Stop acting dense. The issue at hand is ‘Don’t embarrass me.’ What was it that La La told Melo? La La knew Melo was stepping outside the marriage… ‘Just don’t embarrass me.’ This isn’t about an affair, people. That’s low-hanging fruit.”

Affairs blowing up in public is nothing new, especially in the sports and celebrity realm. Russini might face a similar situation to Carmelo Anthony’s ex-wife, La La, who faced severe public scrutiny when her ex-husband’s infidelity came to light.
“This is about the public embarrassment of the New England Patriots organization, the public embarrassment of Vrabel’s last name, and the public embarrassment of Dianna Russini that has dragged on for the entirety of the offseason,” Acho added. “We talked more about Vrabel than the draft picks.”
First-overall draft pick Fernando Mendoza arguably hasn’t seen nearly as much attention as a normal No. 1 pick due to the scandal dominating headlines. With the latest video of Vrabel and a pregnant Russini now also on fans’ minds, that’s unlikely to change soon.
“That’s what this is about,” Acho said. “This isn’t about affairs, and Albright is leaving these cliffhangers of knowing or not. Nobody cares about that. If you have the decency to keep it private — bet. But this is about the public embarrassment of it all.”
“Mike Vrabel, if you with another woman, you surely should be able to sign an alias,” he added. “Like that’s why I’m like he got stupid and sloppy.”
Many people are surprised by how casually the head coach seemed to treat the affair, given the abundance of visual evidence of them together in public.

While it remains to be seen what becomes of Vrabel’s NFL career, Russini resigned from The Athletic very early into the controversy. The publication had opened an internal investigation as more information surfaced, but Russini chose to step aside, stating she refused to submit to a public inquiry that had already caused significant damage to her career.
