Milestone has announced Hot Wheels Infinite Rush, a new open-world entry in its officially licensed game franchise launching in September. This won’t come as a surprise to some, though, as the arcade racer was accidentally leaked in an EB Games Australia retail listing earlier today.
Infinite Rush marks the Italian studio’s first new entry in the fabled franchise since 2023’s Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged.
However, GameMill Entertainment has published two games based on the diecast toy car line since then, with different developers utilising the license. 3D Clouds developed 2024’s Hot Wheels Monster Truck Stunt Mayhem, while Bamtang Games was behind last year’s Let’s Race: Ultimate Speed, based on the Netflix cartoon series.
Instead of continuing the track-based Unleashed series, Infinite Rush is set in scaled-down open environments across four themed islands, with the ability to “sky jump” between each location. When free-roaming, players can smash through obstacles, perform stunts and hunt down hidden collectables.
Up to four players can race online or in split-screen multiplayer, with cross-play support for all platforms apart from Switch 2 and asynchronous challenges.
Notably, this marks the first fully open-world racing game in the studio’s 32-year history, with free roam elements restricted to disparate game modes in previous titles.
In terms of cars, Infinite Rush will feature over 150 vehicles across four classes with unique handling and upgrades. These include the return of fan-favourite original models, while Ferrari also makes its Hot Wheels game debut.

Vehicles can be cusomisted with sticker and livery editors, which now support wheel customisation. The track builder also returns, now enhanced with a new “ground-snapping system” allowing you to attach modules directly onto the ground. Opponents can also be added to custom tracks by placing action markers mapping out the vehicle paths.
A reveal trailer shown during Summer Game Fest shows a variety of vehicles racing across an open city before transitioning to Hot Wheels’ signature orange, elevated tracks, and encountering a giant King Kong-style creature smashing the scenery.
Hot Wheels Infinite Rush release date
As for the release date, arcade racing fans don’t have to wait very long.
Hot Wheels Infinite Rush launches on 24th September for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Switch 2, with early access starting on 21st September.
This will be Milestone’s second arcade racer released this year after the anime-inspired, and sorely overlooked, Screamer launched in March.
