The Houston Texans just set the bar for “intensity” on schedule release day, and they didn’t even have to leave the film room to do it. While other organizations leaned into video games and pop culture, the H-Town creative squad decided to wake up and choose violence, literally.
The team’s 2026 schedule reveal video, titled “Crashing out over the schedule,” features former Texans linebacker Brian Cushing in all his blood-soaked, head-butting glory.

For anyone who missed the early 2010s, Brian Cushing was the heart and soul of the defense. The video leans heavily into his viral “skirmish” energy, capturing the gritty, no-nonsense culture that head coach DeMeco Ryans has successfully revived in Houston. It is a clear message to the rest of the league: the Texans are here to fight.
That grit was on full display during their impressive 2025 campaign. According to the box score from the AFC Wild Card matchup on Jan. 12, 2026, the Texans dominated the Pittsburgh Steelers in a 30-6 blowout at Acrisure Stadium. C.J. Stroud remained surgical despite the hostile Pittsburgh environment, completing 21 of 32 passes for 250 yards and a touchdown.
While Stroud battled some ball-security issues, losing two fumbles and throwing an interception, the Houston defense completely suffocated the Steelers, even tacking on two defensive scores in the fourth quarter. Stroud finished his stellar 2025 regular season with 3,041 passing yards and 19 touchdowns, proving his franchise-altering talent is here to stay.
Looking ahead, the 2026 schedule presents some heavyweight battles early on. The Texans will kick off the season at home against the Buffalo Bills on Sept. 13. With high-stakes matchups against the Cincinnati Bengals and Indianapolis Colts following shortly after, Houston will need every bit of that Cushing-level intensity.
If the Texans can match the energy of their schedule release video, the AFC South might be in for a long winter. H-Town is officially “crashing out,” and the rest of the NFL better be ready.
