A swarm of racers hoping to make hay at a grand tour without Tadej Pogačar.

The 2026 Giro d’Italia will be a must-watch.

Jonas Vingegaard, Egan Bernal, Giulio Pellizzari, and Sepp Kuss headline the peloton that rolls out from the Bulgarian grande partenza on Friday, May 8.

The iconic maglia rosa will be awarded 3,500km and 49,000 meters of uphill later in central Rome.

Grand tour heavyweights like Pogačar, Remco Evenepoel, and Primož Roglič aren’t racing in Italy this May. Vingegaard steps into the power vacuum behind them in what will be his Giro debut and just the first installment of his bold grand tour double.

But this will be no one-horse race.

The list of challengers is broad and deep.

Bernal, Pellizzari, Thymen Arensman, Adam Yates, Felix Gall, Michael Storer, and Canadian Derek Gee are all podium threats.

Italian giant Jonathan Milan will be the man to beat in what’s a supersize sprint field. Tobias Lund Andresen, Dylan Groenewegen, and Paul Magnier are only a few of the rival speedsters who will hunt the ciclamino jersey.

The Giro d’Italia will be broadcast live worldwide, and post-event highlights packages will also be available.
