Millwall boss Alex Neil told Sky Sports:
“We didn’t get the first goal. I think the first goal was going to decide the game.
“10 minutes before half time I thought it was quite even. We sort of rolled the dice in terms of bringing on another striker and I don’t think we had any quality in the box.
“We conceded a goal within a minute [of making those changes] and then we started chasing our tail.
“The lads that come onto the pitch and the lads that start the game should be fit and ready so that [the time on the pitch] doesn’t come into it.
“We didn’t do well enough. We didn’t stick well enough. You’ve got to give credit to Hull, I think they defended well, but as an attacking force, we didn’t have enough in the 90 minutes.
“I don’t think right now, as raw as it is, is the time to think about what we didn’t do three weeks ago [not getting into automatics].
“You just as feel as if it’s a disappointment, I feel I’ve let people down and that’s my overriding emotion.”
Here’s the social media reaction after Hull fans taunt Millwall and Barry Bannan’s wife deletes her Twitter account after backlash to a tweet she posted…
@David_O_91: She’s her own person she can have an opinion cant she.
@NikkiJude: Chloe Bannan beefing Alex Neil is a delightful Tuesday morning tidbit I must say 🤣
@fergie1885 :To your 1st reply, he dont always get blamed, but if he makes mistakes (like tonight) then own it! Man of the match against Oxford, which he got by Alex putting him in his starting 11. Plus, the o.p said Blades and Derby fans, but YOU attack his current manager! Put the wine away ffs
@__1885_: Put the phone down love, we finished 3rd in the league for Christ sake
@LiamEric7: Just what Millwall fans need after they’ve lost possibly their biggest game in quarter of a century? Players wife taking digs at manager. Bet your fellas fuming with you. Not got an issue with him to be fair. Head would be on Mars if I were a Millwall fan losing that and then seeing her tweets when I got home.
@FG_utb2: How embarrassing 😂😂😂
@Ollieplaysfifal: genuinely everybody at millwall treated your family with nothing but respect. disgraceful.
@finswfc1: Chloe bannan well and truly rattling the entire Millwall fanbase tonight
@DaiSalthaus: I don’t think one Millwall fan will blame him for tonight’s loss. Yeah he wasn’t great when he came on, and yeah he didn’t have a lot to work with. Unusually sloppy with the ball. But as for @ChloeBannan …👀
@philclarke0170: I take it he’s leaving in the summer? It’s really disappointing to read these posts. As fans clearly we’ve no idea what goes on behind the scenes but the fans have really welcomed Barry to Millwall and I believe been very supportive. I hope things get sorted out. But it is also fair to say no one put a gun to his head to come to Millwall. I see you’ve deleted stuff now. Probably for the best but reality is it’s all over the place now with screenshots etc. and no doubt all bet picked up by the various channels. Hope your real holiday this summer is more enjoyable than your current one.
Millwall fans: no one likes us, we don’t care.
Chloe Bannan: Your managers dog meyt and Wednesday are massive.
