“I think I will skip….” Jemimah Rodrigues drops a massive statement after team India’s loss against New Zealand

Indian International cricketer and batter Jemimah Rodrigues has stated that the team would prefer to erase their Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 opener against New Zealand from memory. India faced an unexpected defeat against New Zealand, who prior to this match had a streak of 10 consecutive losses. The team led by Harmanpreet Kaur was unable to successfully chase the target of 161 runs on the 4th of October, Friday and were skittled out for a mere 102 runs in Dubai.

Jemimah also problems that the Indian team has to dust themselves in no time and demonstrates the fighting spirit that is inherent in the group. Following the loss to NZ, India must navigate through Australia, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka who are all formidable opponents if they are to advance to the semi finals of the tournament.

“I think I will skip today’s game. We are in the World Cup and there is no point in getting stuck to one game – we have to pick ourselves and move on – this is a World Cup and we have to keep battling. We need to pick ourselves up and show the character of this team,” said Rodrigues during the press meeting after the match-in India.

“In the next matches I think we have to get the right mindset because the tournament is not finished. We have to get some positives from this match and a lot of understandings from this match,” she further stated

Not a single batter from India’s camp on that day came to the party against New Zealand. Jemimah did not take pride in her effort either and mentioned that it was her responsibility to deal with the innings after India had lost Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma and Harmanpreet Kaur for only 42 runs during the powerplay.

“ I know with my game I am ready to bat anywhere the team wants me to because of the way I play my cricket. Today, what let me down after warming up well for the last few games and actually batting well, was my not making sure we regrouped after losing some wickets. “ , Jemimah voiced her concern.

India will next take on Pakistan on October 6 at Dubai International Stadium.
