Ibrahim Tanko rues missed chances after Medeama’s defeat to Hearts of Oak – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results

The head coach of Medeama Sporting Club, Ibrahim Tanko, has blamed his side’s defeat to Hearts of Oak on profligacy.

The Yellow and Mauves locked horns with the Phobians on Sunday in their Round 34 fixture of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.

In a match played at Accra Sports Stadium, Mawuli Wayo starred for the hosts with a brace, leading Hearts of Oak to an impressive 4-2 triumph over Medeama SC.

Speaking after the match, Ibrahim Tanko refused to admit the opponent was better on the matchday, insisting his side could have easily won the game.

He believes his side lost the contest because of their inability to take their chances.

“I think it was 50-50. After the first goal, we came back strongly and had all the chances. And then in the second half, the early goal kicked us behind, but still we kept on fighting to the last. They won 4-2, and I congratulate them,” Ibrahim Tanko said.

The Medeama SC boss continued, “After the season, we have to sit down and analyse the whole season and then look at the position we think we need to help us in Africa and the league next season. We are going to do the work.”

Medeama SC are champions of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League. The team from Tarkwa will receive their trophy after a coronation match against Holy Stars on Wednesday, May 27.
