With the future of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy hanging in the balance, a latest report suggests that there will be further delay in the announcement of the schedule of the tournament. Earlier, reports had stated that the Champions Trophy schedule will be out by the end of this week, however that now looks unlikely.
A delay in schedule comes due to ICC failing to convince PCB to settle for a hybrid model for the upcoming tournament. PCB’s stance has remained clear from the beginning and they want every match of the Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi recently requested Indian team to come to Pakistan to participate in the Champions Trophy. Naqvi assured BCCI that there will not be any problem with Indian cricket team.
“We will ensure that Champions Trophy is held in Pakistan. We have written a letter to ICC, we are awaiting a response. We are just talking to ICC. I believe sports and politics should not be mixed together. I am just hoping for a positive result,” Naqvi told the reporters.
“I think no one can give us a tough time. Every ICC member has its right, things cannot function like this. I am just hoping for a positive result when it comes to Champions Trophy,” Naqvi added.
