Iga Swiatek vs Elina Svitolina, WTA Rome Semifinal – Predictions and Best Bets

The late semifinal clash at the 2026 WTA Italian Open brings together two of the most consistent clay-court performers on the tour. World No. 3 Iga Swiatek faces World No. 10 Elina Svitolina for a spot in the final.

Here is everything you need to know about today’s match, along with our betting predictions and best bets.

Swiatek vs Svitolina

  • Event: WTA 1000 Rome (Italian Open)
  • Round: Semifinal
  • Time: Scheduled for the evening session on Thursday, May 14, 2026 (approx. 8:30 PM local time).
  • Venue: Center Court, Foro Italico.

Head-to-Head & Form

The rivalry is a great one, with Swiatek leading the series 4–2. However, their recent history shows it’s competitive.

  • Most Recent Match: Svitolina won their last meeting in the 2026 Indian Wells quarterfinals in three sets.
  • Surface Advantage: While Swiatek is widely considered the “Queen of Clay,” Svitolina is a two-time Rome champion and has found good form this week.
  • Road to the Semis:
    • Swiatek: Has been ruthless, dropping very few games in dominant wins over Naomi Osaka and Jessica Pegula (6-1, 6-2 in the quarters).
    • Svitolina: Had a marathon quarterfinal, defeating Elena Rybakina over three tough sets (2-6, 6-4, 6-4) while saving 16 of 20 break points.

Both players are legends here at the Foro Italico. Swiatek is chasing her fourth Rome title, while Svitolina is looking to reach her first final here since her 2018 victory.

In their last match, Swiatek’s second serve was attacked relentlessly. Svitolina’s ability to defend her own serve (as seen against Rybakina) will be the deciding factor against Swiatek’s elite return game.

Betting Predictions and Best Bets

Expect a tactical match. Swiatek will look to use her heavy topspin to push her opponent behind the baseline, while Svitolina will rely on her aggressive returns to frustrate the Pole. Swiatek enters as the clear betting favorite (1.25 or -400) and she seem to have find her great clay form again, just in time for Rome and the French Open later this month.

I think this will be a tougher test for Iga, compared to the impressive QF win over Pegula, but I can see her get through over three sets. She has more variation in her game, especially on clay, and looks confident again. A 2-1 set betting wager pays great odds around 3.75 (+275).

The winner will face either Coco Gauff or Sorana Cirstea in Saturday’s final.
