Ilja Dragunov’s WWE Status After Absence From TV

Ilja Dragunov has been absent from WWE television since WrestleMania, and fans are still wondering why one of the company’s most intense performers has seemingly vanished from programming.

A fan recently asked about Dragunov’s status during a Fightful Select Q&A, leading to an update on where things currently stand for the former NXT Champion.

While there doesn’t appear to be much movement regarding a WWE return, there is at least one positive sign. Dragunov has been training at the legendary Hart Dungeon in Canada, which could indicate he is physically ready to compete.

It was also mentioned that there has been little discussion regarding Dragunov behind the scenes and there are currently no known creative plans involving him despite his lengthy absence from WWE television.

“He’s at least been training at the Hart Dungeon. I’ve not heard much of anything else recently, or him being involved in creative plans. He’s not been on TV since WrestleMania at all.”

Sean also addressed fan concerns that an undisclosed injury could be keeping Dragunov on the sidelines. However, there does not appear to be any indication that health issues are preventing him from returning.

“I haven’t specifically heard of him being injured, and I don’t think he’d be publicly training at the Dungeon if not cleared, but things have been quiet about him.”

That leaves Dragunov in an unusual position. One of WWE’s most acclaimed in-ring performers appears to be healthy and staying active, but there is still no clear indication of when he will be brought back to television.

What do you think WWE should do with Ilja Dragunov when he finally returns to television? Let us know in the comments and share your thoughts.
