Iman Lee vs Jose Nunez Sosa Set for NABF Title Fight in HartfordUndefeated Iman Lee Eyes Breakthrough Moment in NABF Title Fight

HARTFORD, Conn. — A rising prospect is about to take the biggest step of his career.

Unbeaten Yonkers native Iman Lee (14-0-1, 8 KOs) will face Jose Nunez Sosa (8-2, 6 KOs) for the vacant NABF Super Featherweight Championship on April 18 at the Connecticut Convention Center.

The 10-round bout serves as the co-main event of The Riverside Rumble, promoted by CES Boxing.

A Career-Defining Opportunity

At just 26 years old, Lee enters the fight riding momentum from a breakout 2025 campaign.

His experience in the WBC Grand Prix gave him valuable rounds against international competition — and helped refine his approach inside the ring.

“I learned to be calmer and take my time,” said Lee. “Those were six-round fights where you had to showcase everything quickly, but I learned to slow down, pick my shots better, and listen to my coaches. It really opened my eyes.”

Lee defeated Argentina’s Juan Manuel Albornoz and Mexico’s Hector Calderon before battling South Africa’s Bekzizwe Maitse to a draw in the quarterfinals.

A Test of Adaptability

That tournament experience may prove critical against Sosa, a dangerous opponent known for his aggressive style and knockout power.

“I’ve sparred with him a couple of times in the past, so I’m familiar with him,” said Lee. “He likes to fight, so for me, it’s about staying calm and sharp, using my reach, and relying on my stamina.”

Six of Sosa’s eight victories have come by knockout, making him a legitimate threat at any moment.

Moving Up for the Moment

The bout also marks Lee’s debut at 130 pounds — a move driven by opportunity rather than necessity.

“I didn’t have to move up – I did it for the opportunity to fight for the NABF title,” Lee said. “It means a lot for me to fight for that belt.”

A win would not only secure Lee his first major professional title but also push him into the World Boxing Council rankings — a key step toward a future world title shot.

Staying Patient, Thinking Big

Despite the stakes, Lee is focused on development rather than rushing to the top.

“There’s no rush,” said Lee. “I just want to keep gaining experience so that when the time comes, I’m ready.”

Fighting Close to Home

With Hartford just a short trip from Yonkers, Lee expects strong support on fight night — and plans to make the most of it.

“I’m very thankful for everyone who is coming out to support,” he said. “I’m looking forward to putting on a great performance on a stacked card.”

Why This Fight Matters

For Lee, this is more than just another bout.

  • First title opportunity
  • Move up in weight
  • Chance to enter world rankings

It’s the kind of moment that separates prospects from contenders.
