Arriving in the mail this past week for review was a copy of Zokology: Change Your Perspective Not Your Swing by former PGA TOUR player Richard Zokol.
Here’s the publisher’s pitch:
In Zokology, Richard Zokol opens up about the mental and emotional toll that defined his 22 years on the PGA Tour. He examines and exposes the mental mistakes he made during his tour that most golfers can relate to. Zokol found answers to his personal struggles and created a system to bring his state of mind into the present moment on the course, stopping the “Golf Insanity” prevalent in the game.
His two PGA Tour wins, both in 1992, evidence that his new-found path worked. In his career, Zokol played over 450 Tour events and learned that success isn’t about the golf swing; success and failure depend on yourmind. Zokology isn’t just a book about golf. It’s about learning how to think.
A quick perusal of the Zokology suggests it is not the instruction book I expected, but a memoir of Zokol’s 22 years as a pro focusing on his mental game. I’ll give it a read and let you know in a future review.
