IND vs SL Highlights, The splendid performance by Sri Lankan bowlers pulled off a miracle at Colombo as the first ODI of the series was ended in a tie-on Friday.  

The low-scoring thriller saw Indian batters not able to convert their starts, and the cameos were not enough to propel the India to victory.

Earlier, Pathum Nissanka’s 56 and Dunith Wellalage’s maiden half-century provided Sri Lanka a platform to make the contest interesting.

Opted to bat, Sri Lanka faced a shaky start after losing their first wicket early.  

Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka steadily look to build the partnership, but they failed to make it big, as Mendis went back to pavilion after scoring 14, followed by Samarawickrama.  

After failing to play crucial knocks in the recently concluded T20Is against India, Sri Lankan skipper Charitha Asalanka once again disappointed with the bat and only score 14. 

Nissanka stood tall at one end and kept the score board tickling and completed his fifty in the process, he however, was not able to convert it to a big knock and got out at 56.

Team Sri Lanka looked in big trouble with only 101 on board at the loss half of their side. Young Dunith Wellalage took the responsibility of scoring crucial runs for his side and played a knock of not out 67 off 65.  

Small cameos from Wanindu Hasaranga (24) and Dananjaya (17) guided the Island team to a decent 230 after 50 overs.  

Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel bagged 2 wickets each for India. While Siraj, Dube, Kuldeep and Sundar shared 1-1 each.  

India to chase 231 in 50 overs  

India, in reply, started totally opposite to Sri Lanka and posted 70 in the first ten overs without losing any wicket.  

With things looking extremely in control for the tourists, they lost three wickets in short succession, including Rohit Sharma’s (58). 

Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer tried to rescue the side and added 43 for the fourth wicket before seasoned Kohli gone for 24. Iyer followed the same route and got out for 23 in the next over.  

KL Rahul and Axar Patel somewhat steadied India’s ship and did 57-run partnership for the sixth wicket before Rahul left the crease after playing a knock of 31. Sri Lankan skipper Asalanka got the wicket of well-set Axar (33) in the next over to keep his side in game.

Shivam Dube tried his best and his contribution narrowed the win gap to one, but the Lankan skipper had other plans in mind, as he trapped Dube and the Arshdeep and did not allow the visiting side to win the match.
