Shivam Lohakare reaffirmed his growing reputation as the next big thing in Indian javelin, becoming the first from the country to cross the 80m mark en route to winning the fifth Indian Open Throws competition here on Sunday.
The 20-year-old Lohakare, with an 81.08m throw in his very first attempt of the season, was also the only athlete to cross the 80m mark in the competition. Kishore Jena, returning to action after almost a year, could only manage 74.75m and finished third.
