Is Trevor Rogers Righting the Ship? – June 27, 2026
Cooper Ingle (C-CLE) got the call to the majors, going 0-2 with a BB as he served as the DH and batted 5th in his MLB debut. The 24 year-old backstop prospect may not see much time behind the dish in Cleveland, but his plus hit tool and developing power mean that he should see playing time somewhere. Ranked as the 68th overall prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline, Ingle has been consistently productive since making his minor-league debut back in 2023. He’s shown off his plus hit tool at every stop while registering high walk rates. His power grades as below-average but it’s come on this season as he’s batted .284 with 12 HR, 41 RBI, and 33 R in 221 PA with Triple-A Columbus. He’s fanned at a career-high 22.5% clip, but drawn walks at a robust 18.5% rate while logging healthy 83.5% overall and 90.5% in-zone contact rates. He doesn’t chase (18% o-swing%) and has made a lot of loud contact this year, with Statcast showing a 47.5% hard-hit rate and 9.5% barrel rate. He’s worth a pickup if you could use help at C.
Joey Cantillo (SP-CLE) was sharp against the Mariners on Friday, allowing 1 run on 2 hits and 2 walks while racking up 9 punchouts over 6 IP. He did serve up one dinger while tossing 53 of his 90 offerings for strikes in the outing. After a rough outing in Texas on June 7th, Cantillo has rebounded to allow exactly 1 ER in each of his last 3 outings, allowing 12 hits and walking 3 while racking up 23 punchouts over those 19 IP. On the year, the 26 year-old southpaw now owns a 3.87 ERA, 8.9 K/9, 4.1 BB/9, and 4.19 xFIP across 86 IP. He misses bats (12.5% swinging-strike rate), doesn’t allow much contact inside the zone (82%), and limits loud contact (Statcast shows an average exit velo of 87.5 mph, 9% barrel rate, and 36.5% hard-hit rate). The BB/9 is concerning, but his control has improved lately. Fantasy owners should consider starting him against the Rangers next week.
Trevor Rogers (SP-BAL) put together another nice outing as he held the Nationals to 1 run on 5 hits and no walks while fanning 7 over 6.1 IP in which he kept the ball in the yard and threw 65 of his 87 pitches for strikes. The 28 year-old LHP now owns a 4.99 ERA, 6.9 K/9, 2.7 BB/9, and 4.65 xFIP through his first 79.1 IP of the campaign. While those numbers are far from exciting, the good news is that he’s now rattled off three straight quality starts and has not allowed more than 3 ER in an outing since May 29th. His BB/9 is dipping, he’s missing more bats, and overall he’s actually surrendered less loud contact this year (39.5% hard-hit, 7% barrel, and 89.5 mph average exit velo) than last (48.5%, 7.5%, and 89.5 mph). He’ll look to keep rolling against the visiting White Sox on Wednesday.
Spencer Arrighetti (SP-HOU) got lit up by the Tigers on Friday as he surrendered 8 runs (all earned) on 5 hits and 5 walks while recording 7 punchouts over just 3 IP. The 26 year-old RHP served up a trio of dingers while throwing just 49 of his 93 offerings for strikes. Regression continues to come for Arrighetti, who entered the contest with a 3.13 ERA against a 4.57 xFIP, and he now owns a 4.00 ERA, 9.4 K/9, 4.6 BB/9, and 4.62 xFIP through 72 IP. The K/9 is nice, but it’s not fueled by a strong swinging-strike rate (10%) while Arrighetti’s control has been poor overall. His saving grace had been limited loud contact (31% hard-hit rate, 6.5% barrel rate, and an average exit velo of 87.5 mph), but the Tigers had little trouble ripping the baseball on Friday night. He’s slated to take the hill against the Rays next Friday, and he’s lucky that lineup has cooled off after a hot start to the campaign.
Nathan Eovaldi (SP-TEX) blanked the Blue Jays over 7 IP on Friday, scattering 5 hits and a walk while racking up 9 punchouts on 92 pitches (59 strikes). The 36 year-old RHP has been better in 2026 than his 3.95 ERA suggests as he has also compiled a 3.32 xFIP, 9.1 K/9, and 2.1 BB/9 across 100.1 IP. Eovaldi’s swinging-strike rate is sitting at a career-best 14.5% while he’s getting hitters to chase at a career-high 36% clip and their overall contact rate is down to a career-low 72% while their 82.5% in-zone contact rate is among the best of his career. A key to his success has been a career-high 37% deployment of his 88.5-mph splitter while he’s also using his 76.5-mph curve a career high 21% of the time. Look for Eovaldi to enjoy more success in Cleveland on Wednesday.
