Jackie Redmond Makes Her Feelings Clear on Becoming a WWE Wrestler

Jackie Redmond has no plans to become a WWE wrestler, but she is not completely shutting the door on one big on-screen moment someday.

While speaking on the Awful Announcing podcast, Redmond was asked whether she ever wants to get inside the ring. Redmond made it clear that wrestling is not something she wants to do, and she also has no interest in becoming a manager on WWE television.

“Um, I don’t want to wrestle—ever. I wouldn’t be opposed to, like, slapping someone or having a moment, but I don’t ever want to wrestle. I don’t ever want to manage.”

Redmond explained that she is more comfortable telling stories than becoming part of them. She said her current role as a broadcaster and backstage interviewer is the lane she wants to stay in.

“I’m not looking to become part of the story, if that makes sense. I like telling stories, so for me, that’s my lane—that’s where I want to be. But I wouldn’t be opposed to a moment—just a moment. I don’t want a whole thing, though.”

Redmond also admitted that WWE’s world can be unpredictable, and there have already been some interesting backstage situations that never made it to air.

“And you know, there have been some interesting situations backstage that haven’t been on the air, but yeah—wrestling is a circus in the best possible way.”

While she is not actively looking for a physical role, Redmond said she has to leave a little room for the unexpected, especially if WWE ever offered her something too wild to turn down.

“So I guess I have to apply my own ‘never say never’ to myself. I don’t know—maybe five years from now they offer me something that’s just too insane to say no to. I don’t know.”

This comes after Redmond previously opened up to Front Office Sports about balancing WWE and NHL duties during a brutal travel stretch. She worked Game 4 of Oilers vs. Kings in Edmonton, flew overnight to Kansas City for WWE RAW, then flew overnight again to Los Angeles for Game 5 before traveling to Ottawa for Leafs vs. Senators.

“But I think right now, the craziest stretch I’ve had since the playoffs started was in the first round. I did Game 4 of Oilers-Kings in Edmonton, Alberta. I took a redeye to Raw in Kansas City. Then I took a redeye again to get to Los Angeles for Tuesday’s Game 5. Then Wednesday, I took the first flight out to get from L.A. to Ottawa. That was one of the craziest stretches of this playoff run for sure. There was no breathing room. It was Gameday→Raw→Gameday→Massive travel day→elimination game.”

Redmond has managed to balance two demanding worlds with WWE and NHL broadcasting, but her current comments make it clear she does not want to trade the microphone for a full wrestling role. A slap, a quick segment, or one unforgettable moment may be possible someday, but she is not chasing a match or manager spot.

Do you think Jackie Redmond should eventually get a brief physical moment on WWE television, or is she best used strictly as a broadcaster? Share your thoughts and feedback in the comments.
