Jade Cargill knew the internet was not exactly throwing flowers at her Rhea Ripley storyline, so she and Rhea decided to turn the volume way up in the ring.
While speaking to ROMPIPALLONE, Jade Cargill admitted fans thought the build was flat. Instead of crying about it, she said they took that reaction and used it as fuel to make sure the matches hit hard.
“Um, we just want to go out there and put on a banger. I know people felt like our storyline was pretty flat. So, we were like, ‘Okay, well, if they feel like this, we’re going to leave them with a bang.’ And after Mania, we were just like, ‘Okay, how are we going to rev this up? Like, how are we going to make this better?’”
That explains why their WrestleMania 42 match and Clash in Italy rematch felt so physical. Jade and Rhea may not have had the hottest story going in, but once the bell rang, they clearly wanted fans to remember the fight. Jade said the whole idea was to lean into what both women do best. They are strong, explosive, and not exactly built to have a soft little wrestling match.
“And we’re both two strong phenomenal beasts. And we were like, ‘All right, well, let’s give them a big man show. Let’s do this.’ Like, that’s something that a lot of people can’t do. It’s different elements.”
Rhea beat Jade at WrestleMania 42 to win the WWE Women’s Championship, then kept the title at Clash in Italy after another hard-hitting match with plenty of chaos around ringside. So, Jade heard the complaints. Fans thought the feud was missing something, and her answer was simple: go out there, hit harder, and make the match impossible to ignore.
