Jake Paul reveals he may not be able to fight again after suffering broken jaw against Anthony Joshua

Jake Paul could see his boxing career being over.

Paul suffered a KO loss to Anthony Joshua in December, in a fight in which he suffered a broken jaw as he had a massive step-up in competition. The influencer-turned-boxer was forced to undergo surgery, and since then, he’s been healing up.

However, ahead of his promotion’s debut MMA event on Saturday, Paul spoke to Ariel Helwani and revealed there is some unknown on his boxing future.

“I’m getting some new scans here in a couple of days of the jaw, to get an update on the healing process,” Paul said. “We see what my doctors say. I think we will be able to get a more accurate timeframe, or can I even fight again? That is in the realm of possibilities of things. It does feel a lot better as weeks goes by, and time goes by. I defintely have to get cleared first to be able to spar. I’m staying in shape, and enjoying some mit work.”

Jake Paul hints that boxing career could be over

When asked by Helwani if Paul meant thi injury could end his boxing career, Paul confirmed as he said it depends on what his doctor has to say.

“Most defintely. I think it depends on how the bone heals, and then also, there is also a tooth missing here, I’m pretty sure I will have to get an implanted tooth of some sort. We just have to see. Just figure out the smartest thing for me,” Paul said.

If Paul doesn’t fight again it would be a bit of a surprise, as he was adamant he’d be back in there after the loss to Joshua. Yet, perhaps after sustaining a serious injury, it has impacted his decision to box.

If Paul doesn’t box again, he’d end his career with a record of 12-2. He has notable wins over Mike Tyson, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley, Nate Diaz, Mike Perry, and Ben Askren among others.
