Jameis Winston lands FIFA World Cup assignment with Fox Sports

New York Giants quarterback Jameis Winston will be looking to conquer a different field.

Winston is set to be part of FOX Sports’ coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup as a special correspondent. The network shared a promotional graphic on Wednesday of Winston’s new endeavor.

Unsurprisingly, Winston’s upcoming gig has sparked strong reactions from the fans.

“This is the World Cup and this is the best you could do?? No offense to Winston but have some respect for the event. Absolute stupidity,” a fan said.

“He may single-handedly save the World Cup,” a social media user on X shared.

“lol all the Instagram reels of USA commentary is going to be so true seeing this,” another one commented.

“Just need you to put Wins-ton in ‘The USA wins-ton of matches.’ Feel free to hate me for that one,” a different fan said.

“If we’re going to do something like this, make it someone who actually likes soccer. Steve Nash, Joel Embiid, Josh Hart, and JJ Watt are all good examples,” another comment read.

In another post on Wednesday, FOX Sports aired a video of Winston calling his Giants teammates to inform them of his World Cup adventure.

“I’ve got two jobs, man,” Winston said to Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart. “One job is to serve you and be the best I can be for you. The next job is I’m a freaking World Cup FOX Sports correspondent, baby!”

Covering a sport outside of football isn’t new to Jameis Winston, who also helped with Netflix’s coverage of the 2026 MLB Opening Day game between the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants,

Winston only has a year left on his current contract with the Giants, and if the 2026 season ends up being his last in the NFL, perhaps a broadcasting career is what’s next for the former Heisman Trophy winner.
