Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz’s battle at the top of the rankings continued at the Monte-Carlo Masters.
Sinner’s victory over Alcaraz ensured he would go to the top of the rankings, but there will likely be many more changes over the clay court season.
Alcaraz has the chance to usurp Sinner in Barcelona if he wins the ATP 500 tournament for the third time in his career.
As Sinner and Alcaraz continue to rack up an incredible amount of ranking points, the pair have now smashed an ATP Tour record.

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz make ATP history
After their Monte-Carlo Masters final, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz now share 26,590 ranking points on the ATP Tour.
That is the most points of any pair of players since the ATP introduced its new ranking system for the 2009 season.
How would you rate that Monte Carlo final out of 10?
That means statistically, Alcaraz and Sinner are the strongest top two players the sport has seen in at least 17 years.
Considering the rivalry between the big three, that is a very impressive feat indeed for the Spaniard and Italian.
Sinner and Alcaraz have shared the last nine Grand Slams and no other player has won a Masters event since Valentin Vacherot’s victory at the Shanghai Masters in October.
Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner sit far above anyone else
Alcaraz and Sinner are miles ahead of the chasing pack when it comes the ATP Tour rankings, with over 7000 ranking points splitting second and third place.
The Spaniard and Italian’s 26,590 is staggeringly nearly more than the rest of the ATP Tour top 10 combine.
Should Carlos Alcaraz hire another coach after his recent results?
If so, who should he hire? 🤔
The players ranked between third and tenth on the ATP Tour have racked up 32, 355 points, so there is just 5765 points between Sinner and Alcaraz and eight players combined.
The ATP Tour rolls on following the Monte-Carlo Masters, with ATP 500 tournaments in Munich and Barcelona.
Unfortunately for the rest of the ATP Tour, Alcaraz has still opted to play Barcelona despite making the Monte-Carlo final.
