At AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2026, Cope and Cage (Adam Copeland and Christian Cage) successfully retained the AEW World Tag Team Championships against The Dogs (David Finlay and Clark Connors), but the biggest story came after the lights went out.
Late in the match, David Finlay blasted Christian Cage with his signature shillelagh while the referee was incapacitated. Moments later, Finlay attempted to use the weapon on Adam Copeland, only for the arena to be plunged into darkness.
When the lights came back on, the Bang Bang Gang was standing on the entrance ramp. Inside the ring, a familiar face emerged as Jay White made his shocking return after more than a year away from action.
White immediately leveled Finlay with the Blade Runner, clearing the way for Copeland to connect with a Spear and score the pinfall, allowing Cope and Cage to retain their AEW World Tag Team Championships.
Tony Khan surprised NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi with a special gift ahead of AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2026.
Tanahashi was among those in attendance for the crossover event, and before the show, AEW shared a backstage video featuring Khan presenting “The Ace” with a custom-made guitar in recognition of his legendary career.
The front of the guitar featured the following inscription,
“Go Ace!
Congratulations on your incredible career.
From your friends at All Elite Wrestling.”
Tanahashi is famous for doing the “air guitar” pose after winning his matches.
