Quaintance was a five-star recruit in the class of 2024 who signed with Arizona State out of North Carolina. He averaged 9.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. Arizona State had a bad season despite his solid play. He transferred to Kentucky before the 2025-26 season. Quaintance was only able to play in four games for the Wildcats as he recovered from a torn ACL and meniscus. In the four games he played, he put up 5.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.

Following the season, Quaintance entered the 2026 NBA Draft. He is currently projected to be a mid-round pick.

Jayden Quaintance Strengths

Quaintance has good size and strength for an NBA big heading into the draft. He stands at 6-foot-9 and 253 pounds, with a filled-out frame, which is especially impressive for his age. Quaintance seemed to be able to overpower college players and should be able to fit right in, if not stand out, from a strength perspective at the next level. He also has a wingspan that stretches over 7.5 feet.

His athleticism is extremely unique for a player of his size. He has good quickness and speed, which he uses to run the floor on offense and get back in transition on defense. Quaintance has good leaping ability as well to help him throw down dunks and block shots. He plays bigger than his size because of his leaping ability, but also can guard smaller players because of his quickness.

He is one of the best rim protectors in the draft class, averagind 2.6 blocks per game in his freshman season at Arizona State. Quaintance can block shots when he is covering the man shooting, but what is more impressive is his ability to block shots when he is the help defender. He can cover a lot of ground on his feet and leaps quickly to block or at least contest shots.

Jayden Quaintance Weaknesses

Quaintance had a long recovery from his torn ACL and meniscus which cost him nearly all of this past season. Swelling was an issue. While he did look good when he was able to play, Quiantance will have to check out medically before a team can feel safe drafting him, especially if it is early in the draft.

He isn’t much of a mid-range or deep shooter. Quaintance shot 18.8 percent from deep as a freshman at Arizona State and didn’t attempt a 3-pointer at Kentucky. He is best as a rim runner at this point in his career until he can develop a shot to keep defenses honest.

While he can score in the paint because of his athleticism and motor, Quaintance could be a more polished inside scorer. He can add post moves to his game to give him more viability on the offensive end of the floor for a team. Quaintance will be a plus defender, but his offense could take some time to develop.
