JBL Says Baron Corbin Would Be a Great Asset to WWE Amid Return Rumors

JBL is hoping the Baron Corbin WWE return rumors are true, and he believes Corbin still has plenty left to offer.

While speaking on Something to Wrestle, JBL addressed the speculation surrounding Corbin possibly heading back to WWE. JBL said he never wanted Corbin to walk away from wrestling for good because he still sees real value in him.

“I hope the rumors are true. I was hoping that Baron Corbin wouldn’t just retire and decide, ‘You know what, I’m done with wrestling,’ because I thought he had a lot to offer.”

JBL pointed to Corbin’s work in MLW and on the independent scene as proof that he can still contribute. He also said getting over is difficult, and Corbin has already shown he can do it.

“And you see from what he’s done with MLW and on the independents—he does have a lot to offer. It’s hard to get over, and very few guys can truly get over. Baron Corbin has gotten over, and guys like that are rare.”

JBL then explained why Corbin’s time away may have actually helped him. In his view, leaving WWE and doing well elsewhere can make Corbin even more useful if he returns.

“For him to leave and go off and do good things, it just makes him more valuable. You always need guys like Baron on your card somewhere. He can be a top guy—and he has been—but he can also be anywhere on the card because he’s a good talent.”

JBL also praised Corbin’s intelligence, toughness, and credibility, saying those qualities make him someone WWE could use again.

“Baron’s a smart guy. He’s a good wrestler. He’s a tough guy, which helps, because people know it’s legit. When they look into his background, they realize this guy is genuinely tough. I think Baron would be a great asset to bring back.”

The comments come after False Finish reported that WWE sources still expect Corbin to return to the company soon, even after Corbin publicly mocked the speculation. Corbin recently joked on social media that he still had independent dates booked and didn’t know someone else was apparently making his schedule.

“I accepted 8 shows in Europe. My eye is still swollen from Australia. I also didn’t know i was done with some of these companies. Who ever is making my schedule needs to let me know this shit. I thought it was me but apparently it’s not.”

Corbin has rebuilt momentum since leaving WWE in late 2024, including his MLW run alongside Donovan Dijak as part of The Skyscrapers. With JBL now openly backing the idea of a comeback, the talk around Corbin’s WWE future is only getting louder.
