Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez looks to create more history when he moves up to bantamweight to challenge WBA champion, Antonio Vargas in Arizona on Saturday.
Bam Rodriguez (23-0, 16 KOs) faces Vargas (19-1-1, 11 KOs) at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale.
The two-division world champion looks to conquer a third weight class having already won world titles at flyweight and super flyweight.
The 26-year-old Texan unified the flyweight division with a 10th round knockout of Fernando Martinez in November.
‘Bam’ is expected to return to 115lbs to face Andrew Moloney for the undisputed crown later in the year, before pursuing a showdown with undisputed super bantamweight titlist, Naoya Inoue.
Vargas retained his WBA bantamweight crown in July, although was held to a draw with Daigo Higa.
