Jessica Appiah Asamoah shines as Black Maidens demolish Liberia 6-0 in World Cup Qualifier • Sahara Football

Jessica Appiah Asamoah produced a dazzling performance as Ghana’s U-17 women’s national team, the Black Maidens, recorded a commanding 6-0 win over Liberia in the first leg of their FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, May 23, 2026.

The winger was one of Ghana’s brightest performers on the afternoon, causing constant problems down the flanks with her pace, creativity, and attacking movement. She played a key role in the opening goal before later finding the back of the net herself in an outstanding display.

After sustained pressure from the hosts, Daniella Abass opened the scoring in the 31st minute with Jessica Appiah Asamoah heavily involved in the build-up.

Ghana returned from the halftime break with greater intensity as Seidatu Wahab converted from the penalty spot in the 57th minute to double the lead. Linda Achiaa added a third goal moments later as the Black Maidens took complete control of the contest.

Jessica Appiah Asamoah then crowned her impressive display with Ghana’s fourth goal in the 60th minute before Priscilla Mensah and Mavis Yeboah wrapped up the emphatic victory for the hosts.

Her influence on the game was clear throughout the encounter, and when she was substituted in the 82nd minute, she received loud applause and a standing ovation from sections of the crowd at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Despite Liberia’s heavy defeat, goalkeeper Patience Taye produced several outstanding saves and showed admirable resilience between the sticks. Her interventions denied Ghana on multiple occasions and prevented the scoreline from becoming even heavier.

At the other end, Ghana goalkeeper Belinda Maku Aklie recorded another clean sheet, making it three consecutive shutouts for the Black Maidens in the ongoing qualifying campaign.

The result gives Ghana a huge advantage ahead of the reverse fixture scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Paynesville-Samuel Kayon Doe Sports Complex in Liberia at 4:00pm.

The Black Maidens entered the tie on the back of an 8-0 aggregate victory over Togo in the opening round and once again showed their strength as serious contenders in the qualifiers.
