Joey Ryan is once again at the center of controversy, and this time, he claimed that he actually turned down an offer from AEW.
After an earlier heated back-and-forth where Joey Ryan defended his legacy and indie wrestling contributions, another fan directly challenged him — this time questioning his response to past allegations and calling out his attempts to justify himself.
The fan began by accusing Ryan of ignoring the seriousness of the allegations against him and suggested he was simply repeating excuses. Ryan then defended himself by saying more than half the accusations had zero physical contact.
“Do you know what the accusations actually say or are you just repeating things you’ve read others say without fact checking? More than half the accusations had zero physical contact.”
Ryan responded by changing the discussion toward his personal beliefs, bringing religion into the conversation as part of how he views his past.
“As I mentioned, I am not without sin but there is no condemnation through Jesus. He saves us all.”
That didn’t sit well with the fan, who pushed back and referenced others connected to past accusations, questioning how Ryan could frame the situation that way.
“Maybe someone should ask Allie Kat how she feels since you seem to think abusing women is ok if you pray about it”
Ryan fired back again, claiming there were additional perspectives to the situation and arguing that the context had been misrepresented.
“You can if you want. You can also ask the other woman who was there during that threesome. Or ask her ex boyfriend, who she bragged about it to. But I’ve been redeemed for those sins. Those don’t represent the life Jesus has given me.”
The exchange escalated even further when the fan questioned why Ryan hasn’t been picked up by a major company, bringing up Tony Khan and AEW’s roster as a comparison.
“Always making excuses for being a pos you’ve got to be real pos for Tony Khan to not hire you when he has Darby Allin and Don Callis signed.”
That’s when Ryan made his most notable claim of the exchange, insisting that he wasn’t overlooked, but instead turned down an opportunity himself, as he claimed that he turned down AEW’s offer because he was making more money on the indies.
“I turned down AEW’s offer because I was making more on the indies.”
In the end, this wasn’t just another online argument. Ryan used it to defend his past, double down on his current stance, and make a bold claim about turning down AEW. Whether people believe that or not, one thing is clear: he’s not stepping away from the conversation anytime soon.
