Bridgetown–West Indies Under-19 batsman Joshua Dorne will captain double crown defending champions Barbados at this year’s Cricket West Indies’ Rising Stars Regional Under-17 Tournament in Trinidad and Tobago from August 11 to September 3.
Dorne is also a member of the Barbados Under-19 team which was due to fly out to St Vincent earlier this week for the CWI Under-19 tournament, scheduled to start on Tuesday. It has been put on hold due to the passage of Hurricane Beryl.
Last year’s successful Barbados Under-15 captain, Damarko Wiggins, who is an attacking left-handed opening batsman, was selected to the 14-member Under-17 team as well as batsman Micah Greenidge, who is in both the Under-19 and Under-17 teams.
Meanwhile, Queen’s College’s off-spinning all-rounder Preston Clarke, who was originally a reserve, was drafted into the Under-19 team for Shaquan Belle, who is recuperating from injury.
