Jung Hoo Lee extends historic hit streak in win over Cubs

Even in an overall rough season, San Francisco Giants fans have something, or someone, to cheer for and appreciate in 2026.

Jung Hoo Lee has stood out as a bright spot due to his historic hit streak, one that he extended on Sunday night as part of an extra-inning 2-1 San Francisco win at Wrigley Field against the Chicago Cubs.

Lee moved his streak to 15 games on his first at-bat of the game, sending a two-out pitch to left center. His base hit with two runners on sent one home and put the Giants on the board early, a run that would prove to be critical and the only run scored for San Francisco until the eventual game-winner in the 10th.

Now hitting .323, a big leap from being at .265 a month ago, Lee holds MLB’s longest active hit streak.

He also has the most hits recorded by any Giants player over a 15-game stretch since Buster Posey, who retired after the 2021 season. And making Lee’s streak even more historic, his 23 hits in his last 10 games are the most for the franchise since the great Willie Mays in 1958.
