Kaitlyn isn’t shutting the door on another WWE appearance, and a Royal Rumble return is something she would consider.
While speaking on the Rewind Recap Relive podcast, Kaitlyn was asked whether fans could ever see her back in WWE, possibly for something like the Royal Rumble. She made it clear she is open to the idea and has felt that way for a while.
“I’m totally open to it. I really am—and I’ve been open to it for a while.”
Kaitlyn then looked back on her 2018 return for the Mae Young Classic, which came four years after she left WWE. She said the experience gave her a first real look at the Performance Center and left a strong impression.
“So in 2018—I left in 2014—and then I came back to do the Mae Young Classic, which was a great experience. That was the first time I got to experience the Performance Center, and I was like, ‘This is amazing.’ The gym, the trainers, all the rings—it was so state-of-the-art.”
She explained that her Mae Young Classic run gave her two matches, but the second one against Mia Yim stood out as the one that truly gave her closure.
“I had two matches. My first one was kind of—like the woman I was wrestling was very new. We had a good match. But my second match was with Mia Yim, and we had such a sick match. I love her.”
Kaitlyn then compared that to her final WWE match before leaving in 2014, which she said did not feel good emotionally. She had asked for her release the day before, agreed to stay one more day, and ended up taking a superkick from Tamina in what became her last match at the time.
“My last match before I left in 2014—I did not love that. I felt sick to my stomach. It wasn’t a good situation. I had asked for my release the day before, and they asked me to stay one more day. Then they gave me a last match—I think it was on Main Event or Superstars.”
She said that experience left her wanting to leave, but the Mae Young Classic helped replace that feeling with a much better final memory. Kaitlyn then said her match with Mia Yim felt so satisfying that, even if she never wrestled in WWE again, it would be enough for her.
“And I took a superkick to the face from Tamina, and it just left a bad taste in my mouth. At that point, I just wanted to get out of there. So going back and having that match again—my second match in the Mae Young Classic—I was like, if I never get in a WWE ring again, this match was enough for me. It felt like the perfect last match, because I loved it so much.”
This comes after Kaitlyn previously spoke on Developmentally Speaking about how winning the Divas Championship did not fulfill her the way she expected. She said the title brought success and respect, but not the deeper sense of self-acceptance she had been looking for.
Kaitlyn also admitted that not having a WrestleMania 29 spot while holding the Divas Championship, along with not being included in Total Divas, made her feel like she didn’t fit WWE’s direction at the time.
Now, her latest comments show that while her first WWE exit came from sadness and confusion, her later Mae Young Classic return helped her leave on a much better note. She may not be chasing a full-time comeback, but she is open to stepping back into WWE if the right opportunity comes along.
