Kakamega county schools rugby 15s action got off to an exciting start at the Musingu School Grounds with several teams putting in impressive performances as they sought early momentum in the tournament.
One of the standout sides on day one was Kakamega School who delivered a commanding statement in pool C and D fixtures.
Kakamega opened their campaign with a ruthless 62-00 win over Kivaywa Secondary School before following it up with an even bigger 63-00 triumph against Kilimani Secondary School.
Their clinical attack and disciplined defence underlined their credentials as one of the teams to watch as the competition progresses.
St Peters Mumias Boys High School also enjoyed a perfect run in the opening day fixtures.
St Peters began with a solid 24-00 win against hosts Musingu High School before producing the biggest scoreline of the pool A and B matches, thrashing Khwisero Secondary School 60-00 in a dominant performance.

Meanwhile Mukumu Boys High School also made a strong start to their campaign.
Mukumu edged Koyonzo Secondary School 12-03 before grinding out another hard-fought 12-03 victory over Chebuyusi Secondary School to remain unbeaten after two matches.
Elsewhere, Shamberere Secondary School bounced back strongly after losing their opening match to secure a 34-00 win over Khwisero before falling 22-06 to hosts Musingu.
Musingu had earlier suffered defeat to St Peters but recovered well to pick up a win in their second outing.
In the other pool matches, Malava Boys High School narrowly edged Shikunga Secondary School 13-12 in one of the tightest games of the day, while Butere Boys High School defeated Lubinu Secondary School 20-03.
Lubinu would however recover in their next outing to beat Malava 26-08, while Kilimani secured a convincing 33-00 win over Kivaywa.
