The Indian squad will be entering the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with missing the first Test in Perth. Rohit will be at home with his family for the birth of his second child and is expected to join the team before the second Test.
Shubman Gill, on the other hand, faced an injury in his lift thumb when fielding in the slips during an intra-squad match on the second day.
Kapil Dev wished the team good luck before the start of the series as he spoke to reporters. He advised Indian team to not listen much, and to openly express themselves.
“…I just want to wish my team all the luck. Don’t listen much, go and express yourself. Those who will play well will win. There is no need to take excess pressure,” Kapil Dev told reporters.
