Keith Lee has not appeared on AEW programming since 2023, but his name has not been completely off the table backstage.
In an update, Fightful Select reports that AEW sources confirmed Keith Lee was discussed for a return to programming a number of months ago. The update also noted that those plans have not come to fruition so far.
There were said to be tentative plans at the time, but if those plans had gone forward as originally intended, they would have already happened by now. It is also unclear whether those discussions ever made their way to Lee himself.
Lee has been absent from AEW since being pulled from the Worlds End pay-per-view in 2023. He later revealed that he had been dealing with an injury that had been lingering since 2022, and he has not wrestled for the company since.
Back in June 2025, Lee addressed his status after a fan reached out to wish him well. He made it clear that he was doing fine, but his return was not something he controlled.
“I am quite fine. It is not up to me when it comes to a return. But blessings to you as well.”
Lee also responded to a supporter who suggested launching a fan campaign to push for his return. He appreciated the concern, but said that was not necessary.
“I’ve been good for quite some time, though I do appreciate the concern. But no campaign required. Things happen the way they are suppose to, and eventually, the purpose will show itself.”
It was also noted that Lee has not been a regular backstage at AEW tapings, and there has been no word that he has been around to get cleared. That kind of process usually takes multiple weeks before a wrestler returns to television.
Lee’s last AEW match took place on Collision: Holiday Bash in December 2023, where he defeated Brian Cage. Since then, fans have continued asking when The Limitless One might finally return.
For now, the update is that AEW has at least talked about bringing Keith Lee back. Whether that turns into an actual return remains unclear, but his name has been part of internal discussions after more than two years away from AEW television.
