Kevin Paredes is officially a free agent.
Paredes has left German side Wolfsburg ahead of the expiration of his contract, the club announced. Paredes’ deal was set to run through June but the American attacker is on the move now to determine the next chapter of his club career.
The 23-year-old originally came through the DC United ranks before moving to Wolfsburg during the 2021-22 league campaign.
His most productive seasons came from 2022-24 where Paredes scored four goals and added three assists in 53 appearances.
However, injuries plagued Paredes’ last two campaigns though, with him being reduced to only 10 appearances. He recently featured in both of Wolfsburg’s promotion/relegation playoff series with Paderborn, but was not able to help Wolfsburg avoid relegation from the Bundesliga.
A former U.S. Under-20 and Under-23 men’s national team player, Paredes made three senior caps for the USMNT in 2023. He also previously featured at the FIFA U-20 World Cup and Summer Olympics.
Paredes will now weigh up his options before choosing what’s next for him at club level.
