Keyshawn Davis (14-0, 10 KOs, 1 NC) will soon rematch Nahir Albright (17-2-1, 7 KOs, 1 NC) in a 12-round super lightweight contest.
Their bout headlines a Top Rank card – in association with RDR Promotions – at the Scope in Norfolk, VA. Fight fans around the world can catch the action live on DAZN. Both men had faced each other in a lightweight encounter in 2023 with Davis winning a majority decision. That result was later overturned when he tested positive for marijuana.
Both Davis and Albright spoke at a press conference ahead of their May 16 rematch. Below is some of what they had to say.
Keyshawn Davis vs. Nahir Albright 2 press conference quotes
Keyshawn Davis
“We’re here because Nahir did a great job against Frank Martin, his people kept calling my people, and we picked up his phone call,” said Davis. “That’s why we’re here.”
“I’m happy. I have a great opportunity to perform under these bright lights. I’ve stopped my last three opponents that I’ve fought and this is going to be another stop.”
“We are here to sign contracts and fight, and that’s exactly what we did. It’s not personal, but I’m going to knock him out.”
Nahir Albright
“I feel great,” said Albright. “I’m ready, I’m in shape, and I feel great.”
“I’ve improved a lot. I got stronger, faster, and my IQ improved. It’s going to show Saturday night.”
“[The fight on Saturday will end] with Nahir Albright with his hand raised. That’s it. I’m going to get my hand raised Saturday night, and the whole world is going to see it. You all can laugh, but Saturday night you are going to see.”
Fight prediction
From Big Fight Weekend’s Ricky Carroll: When Davis is at his best, it’s difficult to see who would beat him. He has exceptional footwork, an effective jab, fast hands, and punches with spite. He’s also a talented counterpuncher who can pivot away from danger and land his shots with relative ease.
Albright is awkward and will come to Norfolk to upset a second Davis brother. His jab is effective, and his left hook could cause problems for Davis if he’s not focused.
Davis was highly impressive last time out against Ortiz, and we are backing the sharp, power-punching of Davis to gain the stoppage win against Albright.
