NEW DELHI: The disappointment of missing the flight to the 2024 T20 World Cup must be weighing on KL Rahul’s shoulders. The fast right-hander scored 452 runs at an average of 75.33 in 11 games at the previous year’s ODI World Cup, including one century and two fifties. In spite of his success, he was left out of the India selection for the T20 World Cup, which Team India under Rohit Sharma won.
Shubman Gill captained India to a 4-1 victory in the five-match T20 International series against Zimbabwe, but KL Rahul’s name was not even taken into consideration.
KL Rahul has been selected by the selectors, nevertheless, for the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka that will begin on August 2 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
KL Rahul shared a workout video on social media on Friday along with the words, “More soon.”
KL Rahul’s final T20 international appearance was against England in November 2022; his final One-Day International match was against South Africa in December 2023.
KL Rahul has amassed 2,820 runs at an average of 50.35 in 75 ODIs thus far, with seven hundreds and eighteen fifties to his credit.
During the Sri Lanka tour, India will also play three T20 matches, although KL Rahul will only be considered for One Day Internationals.
